Santa Tracking

Ever since I was little Christmas Eve was meant for watching for Santa.  Back then this pretty much just entailed staring out windows looking for Rudolph’s Red Nose.  I swear that once I totally saw him, but upon reflection it’s also possible it was a plan from just the right angle.  As I got older I started turning to the TV, which would do periodic ‘breaking news’ commercials keeping track of Santa, reminding us kids to get in bed!  Yeah right, as if we could sleep.

Once things became more technologically advanced I discovered NORAD’s Santa Tracker, and have visited the website ever since.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT CRAZY.  I know these videos are NOT REAL.  Neither were the ‘Rescue 911’ reenactments and yet I still was crazy about that show.  (Remember it?)  But tracking Santa on NORAD’s website is a fun break from ‘normal’ life.  So I still dig it.

If you have kids, or are a kid at heart go check it out.  He’s already in flight, having taken off at 6am EST, and is working his way from Russia west.  As of this posting he’s currently believed to be in the United Arab Emirates, and expected to be in Oman in about 3 minutes.

Writer’s Block is EVIL

So I’m supposed to be working on an assignment for my creative writing class.  Problem is, I’m completely blocked.  I can’t seem to get my mind to focus and see the future of the plot.  I don’t know if this is because it’s just a writer’s block, or because I’m not in the proper frame of mind for the end goal of the story.  They say “write what you know.”  Who these ‘they’ are, I have no idea, but it’s said.  Problem is right now I don’t know the ending of the story, how it should happen, how the protagonist will feel.

I’m pretty sure there isn’t a secret Wizarding world, and vampires don’t exist.  Which makes me wonder how L. J. Smith, J. K. Rowling, and the other writers of those such genres fare.  Perhaps it’s because they’re so metaphorical, but I’m not sure if that’d make them harder to write with so much open to interpretation.

Anyway, I guess I’ll go do something to try and break this block now.  This was supposed to help according to some website, but I’m less sure about that.

P.S. – Um, is Funny or Die only funny to people who are in some altered state, ie. high or drunk? Because I’m not really seeing it.
